Like a watchfire, soft in its glow, yet never lost to the dark.
My Favorite Places in Kyoto
My absolute favorite time in Kyoto is from dusk to night. The transition from magic hour to the sparkling night view is breathtaking and offers the most picturesque moments for your photos.
I am also passionate about sharing the charm of historic shrines and temples like Kifune Shrine and To-ji. Fluent in both English and Portuguese, I am here to ensure you fully enjoy these beloved spots.
Why I guide at NINJAYA
I chose to become a rickshaw puller because I wanted a profession where I could connect deeply with people while staying physically active. What started as mere admiration has evolved into a strong desire to be a guiding light for others.
I aspire to be like a ‘watchfire’—not intensely burning, but softly glowing, providing warmth and the courage to move forward in the dark.
Memorable Experience
I will always remember a quiet evening tour at To-ji Temple. As we absorbed the weight of history in the twilight, I had a heartfelt, calm conversation with my guests.
Breaking through language barriers, hearing them say, “You warmed our hearts,” remains my greatest pride and motivation.

He entertained us beautifully in both English and Portuguese. The photos he took of us against the illuminated nightscape are absolute treasures. It was a truly wonderful experience!
Samuel was incredibly gentle and a great listener. The emotional atmosphere of the dusk tour, combined with his heartwarming guidance, made it a perfect memory. We are so glad we booked him!
